Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism
began on April 28, 1253 when our founder, Nichiren Daishonin, the true Buddha, established the teaching of
Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, the ultimate teachings in the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren Daishonin's teaching shows the doctrine of
cause and effect. And based on it, he reveals the true entity of all phenomena. The ultimate goals of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Practice are the attaining enlightenment in this lifetime and the establishment of truly peaceful world in which people can enjoy happy lives together based on true Buddhism. The daily practice consists of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo and reciting a chapter-and-a-half of the Lotus Sutra, called Gongyo, to the True Object of Worship called the Gohonzon. Nichiren Shoshu has temples and propagation centers worldwide and actively propagates the true teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. As the only Nichiren Shoshu Temple in Canada, we warmly invite you to visit and learn how to begin your daily Buddhist practice.

What are the four debts of gratitude in Buddhism? First, we must repay our debt of gratitude to our parents; second, to our sovereign; third, to all living beings; and forth, to the Three Treasures.
