GOSHO
are the writings of the Daishonin, our founder. In Nichiren Shoshu, the Gosho writings are upheld as exemplary instructions - a mirror of faith - by which to devote ourselves to faith, practice, and study. We can gain a correct understanding of these writings only by following the directions of our High Priest, who has received the transmission of the essential principles of true Buddhism.
ATTENDING
OKO CEREMONY
on the second Sunday of every month. In the Oko Ceremony, after the Kenzen offering, the recitation of the sutra, and the chanting of Daimoku, the priest presents a sermon, based on the Gosho. The Oko lecture is profoundly significant. Therefore, it is essential for us to attend this sermon together with our families each month without fail and offer our sincerest gratitude to the Three Treasures.

“On Immutable and Mutable Karma” Oct.2026
(“Ka’enjogo-gosho”)
There are two types of illnesses. One type is minor and the second is grave. Even with
a grave illness, if one sees a skilled physician and is promptly treated, one can extend
one's life. This is all the more true with minor illnesses. There are two types of karma,
immutable and mutable. Sincere repentance will make even immutable karma
vanish. How much more is this so with mutable karma? The seventh volume of the
Lotus Sutra states, “This sutra provides good medicine for the ills of the people of
Jambudvipa.” (Gosho, p. 760)
可延定業御書
夫病有二。一者輕病,二者重病。縱為重病,若值良醫速加對治,命猶存,
何況輕病哉。業有二。一者定業,二者不定業。縱為定業,若善加懺悔,必
消滅,何況不定業哉。法華經第七云「此經則為 閻浮提人 病之良藥」等云云。

可延定業御書
夫(それ)病に二あり。一には軽病、二には重病。重病すら善医に値(あ
)ひて急に対治(たいじ)すれば命猶(なお)存す。何(いか)に況(い
わ)んや軽病をや。業に二あり。一には定業、(じょうごう)二には不定
業(ふじょうごう)。定業すら能(よ)く能く懺悔すれば必ず消滅す。何
に況んや不定業をや。法華経第七に云はく「此の経は則ち為(こ)れ閻浮
提(えんぶだい)の人の病の良薬なり」等云云。 (御書760頁)
